The Power Of Reflection Vol 1: Personal Health
I got some great news from a client this week who said that she still makes our elderberry syrup recipe years after we taught it to her!
This is a typical response from our clients and other community members who have tried our strategies for pursuing health on their own with the help of herbs and holistic lifestyle strategies.
Yes we solely aim to strengthen existing health service-based businesses and that includes marketing, branding, sales and other important “business skills” but one overlooked strategy is that of the CEO leader and within leadership of a health company is the important factor that the business owner (CEO) must be healthy and lead others to health within their company culture.
What I have realized from our client results is that it is not the information that we taught but how we taught them our process.
We did not just give herbal recipes; we connected our clients to meaningful, interactive, interesting experiences and we reframed what it means to connect to our bodies in each new season.
This is what we help our clients do too for their patients and other customers.
Our client, her name is Amanda, told us that she makes our recipes the way that we helped her prepare the recipes in person at the same time each year. It is the time of year that reminds her, motivates her and inspires her to be on track with her personal health and her goals in self-determination.
Momentum is everything in health and in business. You get stuck and then you need to get unstuck. You can hire coaches (like us) to deepen awareness of why you get stuck, how to get unstuck, how to stay accountable to yourself and your goals and to simiplify and clarify what things will actually get you to where you want to go. The financial investment is also an energy investment, like some other major purchase that is going to change your life, like a house, or moving to a new location or attaining some level of certification in a skill.
If you get stuck and don’t get unstuck you might find yourself restarting a lot.
We offer our communities and audiences a free herbalism “starter” course and membership because we want everyone to have some type of routine when it comes to starting with herbs for health. Information has to live within our lives otherwise we only pursue the action of seeking more information.
You can access that course and our core routines for being able to use herbs for health daily here.
And below are some reflective practices that you can infuse into your routine specifically every other quarter at a beginning of a new season.
Here are 10 powerful things to do during a seasonal change reflection session for improved health naturally:
Throw out expired supplements and any herbs that look aged or lacking color, and OF COURSE any with visible mold.
Check the integrity of your herb storage packaging (air built up in bags, tincture dosage bottle lids etc.)
Move your in-season tinctures and teas to the front of your cabinets or shelves for easy visibility and reach.
Make a batch of your "go to" tincture and tea for easy daily use, measure out individual tea bags for days when you just need to pack these for travel.
Refocus your energy around what you need this season and journal on this.
Look at the month and put on the calendar the self-care sessions and any service appointments that you need.
Look at herbal notes and determine what is best for your health at the moment and which theme you intend to focus on for the next 30-90 days.
Reflect on your recent self care sessions, hydration routines, sleep routines and movement routines and decide if these were ample for your health. If NO then take time to determine how to support those critical routines.
Ensure time is planned for being completely detached from media and time for outdoor connection.
Look into your history of DR appointments and make sure you are on track with all screenings etc.
There will be a Vol 2 of this article which we will add within this later that will focus solely on reflective practices for the business owner.
